“Frumenty (or as it called in Greek, Trahanas), is a popular dish in Mediterranean cuisine, with origins in the medieval cuisine of Western Europe. It was made primarily from boiled, cracked wheat.
Our handmade frumenty is made traditionally, with fresh milk, with the recipe of the Martavaltzoglou family. It can be eaten as a breakfast dish, although modern recipes call for the addition of ingredients such as raisins, pine nuts, cherries or even rum. Probably, the definition of “comfort food” in Greek cuisine.
