From Ermou in Athens to James Street in London:
The Taverna Ermou Story Continues
Our story begins at Ermou 98, in the heart of Athens, in a place that feels like it has always been there, familiar, warm, and alive with the spirit of the city. Taverna Ermou was born from a desire to bring back the soul of the classic Athenian neighborhood taverna, giving it new life for today. Now, that same energy has traveled to find a second home on James Street, in the heart of London, bringing with it a sense of community that knows no borders.
Back in the day, the neighborhood Taverna was where everything happened. People did not need a reason to stop by; they just came. Morning, afternoon, or evening, the doors were always open and the welcome was always genuine. Some came for a bite, while others simply for the company. Tables filled slowly, food was shared without asking, and wine flowed freely. This is the feeling we wanted to hold on to and recreate: a timeless setting with an easygoing atmosphere where the world outside seems to slow down.
Our kitchen remains deeply rooted in tradition, with recipes revisited with care and respect, whether served in Athens or London. Here a meal is a ritual of sharing and belonging.
From the shadow of the Acropolis to the streets of London, the address may change, but our heart remains exactly the same: a table set with love, tradition, and the authentic hospitality of another era.
